Do More of What Makes You Happy!

It made so much sense when I heard it for the first time, but in everyday life it might be hard to remember. There are so many “musts” that have to be done. We all want to live happier lives. The question is how to live a happy life. So what can we do to create happiness?

Must Do’s

Well, we all have things we have to do, no matter if we like doing them or not. Think of ways to make everyday tasks more fun. Instead of just doing the dishes, put some music on and sing and dance while washing the forks and knives. Just don’t drop a glass if you’re dancing! Instead of just reading books when we have a few minutes free, why not listen to it while cleaning or gardening. Every now and then we have to ask ourselves what our “have to do’s” are and think of ways to make them more fun.

Me-Time

It’s also important to create “me-time.”  We need to recharge our batteries. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time or be expensive. It can be as simple as taking a bubble bath or listening to music or maybe even a sing along. Some of us recharge our batteries when we’re taking out time for our favorite hobby. Others do so when they are exercising or just taking a relaxing nature walk. Ask yourself the following questions: What do I do to recharge? When do I take time for myself? When am I having a great time and what am I doing when I have fun?

I’m going to leave you with some final thoughts: If you could say no to the things you don’t want, what could you say yes to? And what would life be like then?

  1. Too often, we get hung up in the circle of life and don’t stop to think of ways to unwind and refresh. You have some great suggestions here. I think I’ll take you up on that bubble bath! Thanks for reminding us of ways to make life easier and happier.

  2. I think that music is an incredibly effective stress reducer. I cannot listen to music that I love and stay angry or stressed out. It simply isn’t possible!

I agree with you completely, it is so necessary to take time and do things that makes us happy..after all only a happy person can make others happy..People often make the mistake of trying to set things right in their exterior environment rather then to take a look inside and figure out what their inner child is craving for..your site is surely going to help a lot of people 🙂

  5. This one piece of advice alone, “Do more of what makes you happy” is so important! Thanks for sharing it as well as these other vital suggestions, especially the listening to music and books on audio. This totally motivates me to enjoy cleaning. It also reminds me of what Abraham says through Esther Hicks, “focus on being joyful”. Often, people feel obligated or required to do things that they don’t enjoy. This is especially true with work. I am fortunate to love my work as a teacher, adviser/counselor and writer! Now, I choose to believe that I can make a good living doing what I love. It’s totally possible! Work does not need to stress you out, it can be quite pleasurable and you can make a living doing what you love. Namaste.

    • When I decided I had to find a way to live a less stressful life I soon realized I had to do something about my worksituation. It was taking al my energy. We spend so many hours at work. I decided to start finding out what I enjoy doing and when I know exactly what gives me most joy I will be able to find a job that really will make me happy.   6. Must do – iron my clothes, make it fun with some music or TV.
    Work- must to go for now. I am lucky to have a crazy team, making jokes and funny stories.

    On Sunday I have me-time. Only for me and I am doing only what I love. In that way I charge my batteries for next week.
